At The Project Leadership Academy, our goal is to turn your Project Staff into Project Leaders.
Leadership in the project environment is different than leadership anywhere else. After years of watching projects fail for the same reasons as other projects before them, we want to make a difference. We want to help project teams be successful not just on the current project, but on all future projects as well.
There are life cycle issues, sharing of resources, and timing and contractual issues that often cloud the best way forward. Too many Project Managers focus on micromanaging the tasks rather than helping their team accomplish the tasks. Our goal is to change that paradigm.
Leadership is both an attitude and a set of skills. It CAN be taught and it CAN be learned – According to a study published in the Harvard Business Review in December 2012, most people who are promoted to supervisory positions wait almost 10 years before seeking the leadership skills to help them perform better. Why is this? Because most people are promoted because of their technical skills and not their soft skills. They then lack the perspective to effectively lead their teams.
It’s similar to parenting. We all look back on our own upbringing and think, “I turned out okay, but there are a lot of things I would do differently”. If you have children of your own, you know that despite this best intention, you have said those words or done those things that you swore you would never say or do. That is because few seek parenting classes to help them perform better. They just try to emulate or attempt the complete opposite of what they have experienced before. Without proper leadership training in the work place, our efforts to lead teams is no different.
We offer technical classes and leadership classes – all with the overarching message that your Attitude is the most important tool in your toolbox. The vast majority of our classes are aimed at project-based employees from staff to supervisors.
We conduct classes open to the public, classes for professional membership organizations that are selectively open to the public and private training classes for corporations. We also have webinars. Two of our classes are offered very frequently. The rest are offered occasionally. If there isn’t one one in your area, call us and we can see about holding a class in your area.

LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC TOPIC?
We also develop custom content on topics that are relevant for project-based environment. We recently developed a class called the Project Management Business Administration to help project professionals full a new training requirement for development in strategy and business management. PMI issued the new requirements and we helped PMPs fill the new requirement in a single day. We are currently developing a new training in conjunction with a PMI chapter that looked all over the country for a specific training topic. They didn’t find it and hired us to create it.
